How do we manage the expectations of locals and the expected return of destination guests. How do ski areas retain the many families that took up skiing and riding for the first time last winter. This session explores consumer insights and shares ideas from an experienced panel of ski areas.

A panel of ski areas will share practical and effective examples on what and how to communicate the benefits of skiing and riding to schools, parents, and other authorities. Canadian Ski Council’s Paul Pinchbeck will introduce the new Skiing in Schools Toolkit for ski areas.

3:00pm - 4:15pm Worker Shortage: Where will we find staff?

With many industries facing a labour shortage, what solutions are ski areas implementing to overcome the challenge. The session will review advocacy efforts to increase recruitment, and learn from a panel of ski areas on how they have attracted new domestic workers and scaled their operations to adapt to current labour market supply.

After 50 meetings with ski areas through the Exclusion of Liability safety and education project, CWSAA has prepared an overview of examples of implementation, opportunities, core principles for the ski industry Exclusion of Liability program.  The session will cover the role of various departments in Exclusion of Liability.
