Big White Ski Resort is currently seeking a full-time, year-round Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic or Vehicle mechanic. Reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor and Vice President of Operations, you will be responsible for the safe repair and maintenance of various vehicles and equipment.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Troubleshooting and repairing road vehicles and equipment
Troubleshooting and repairing large heavy duty machinery/vehicles (snow cat groomers, front end loaders)
Performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Designing and fabricating assemblies when possible
Maintaining and cleaning the maintenance shop weekly, or as required
Performing and assisting with the maintenance of ski lifts
Maintaining various stationary machines
Repairing tools when required and possible
Communicating effectively with all departments regarding maintenance
Working cooperatively as a member of the maintenance team, and ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times
Complying with all department and company policies and procedures
Performing other related tasks, as assigned by management
Upholding the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
Position requirements/skills:

Trades certification or apprenticeship
Previous ski industry snow cat maintenance experience is an asset
Experience in hydraulic and hydrostatic systems
Experience in vehicle electrical systems
Experience in suspension, tires, braking systems and drive lines
Experience in engine, transmission and axles
Proficiency in welding and cutting
Drivers license
Proven self-motivation and ability to work well with minimum supervision
Mechanical aptitude
Strong guest service skills
Strong organization, time management and communication skills
Must have a high level of attention to detail
Ability to work well within a diverse team environment
Flexible availability: including evenings, early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays
Ability to work in all weather conditions and temperature extremes (-25 to +30)
Physical demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk and lie down for periods for the duration of the shift
Ability to lift and carry 25 kg (55 lbs)
Must be able to kneel, bend, twist, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill duties
Must be able to perform a loaded twist (torquing a wrench)
Requires grasping, tool use, writing, standing, sitting, driving, shoveling, repetitive motions, climbing, visual acuity, listening and hearing ability
Wage:  $38.00/hour
