Big White is currently accepting applications for Millwrights. Millwrights at Big White are involved in almost every aspect of Outdoor operations. This is a full-time, year-round, long-term permanent position. In the winter, the millwrights perform scheduled maintenance to the lifts, snowcats and snowmobiles as required. They are responsible for helping ensure the uninterrupted operation of the ski lifts and snowcats. They also assist other departments regularly with transport and logistics. Millwrights are the first people out on the mountain in the morning and the last ones off the hill in the evening. In the off-season, the millwrights perform all the scheduled summer maintenance to the ski lifts as well as special projects such as new lift installations, rope replacements and splicing.  We offer a generous package including competitive wages, health benefits, pension and tool allowance.

Position Requirements/Skills:

Trades certification or Apprenticeship
Lift 151, 152, 153 courses
Driver’s license
Experience in hydraulic and hydrostatic systems
Experience in low voltage controls
Experience in rigging and hoisting
Proficiency in welding and cutting
Self motivated, ability to work well with minimum supervision
Mechanical aptitude
Excellent guest service skills
Excellent organization, time management and communication skills
Must have a high level of attention to detail
Work well within a diverse team environment
Flexible availability: including evenings, early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain, troubleshoot and repair ski lifts
Complete work orders and document all maintenance
Pre operational checks and startups
Supervise and/or assist all outside operations staff
Troubleshoot and repair vehicles and equipment
Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Fabricate assemblies
Maintenance and cleaning of lift stations and maintenance shop
Maintain various stationary machines and tools
Operate, maintain, and repair snowmobiles
Operate forklifts and heavy equipment
Communicate effectively with all departments regarding maintenance
Work cooperatively as a member of the maintenance team to ensure safe work practices are adhered to at all times
Comply with all department and company policies and procedures
Perform other tasks, as assigned by management
Uphold the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for the duration of the shift
Ability to work at heights
Ability to work in cold and harsh environments
Ability to lift and carry 35kg at times
Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill duties
Requires grasping, tool use, writing, standing, sitting, driving, shoveling, repetitive motions, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity
