Position: Commercial Construction Manager
Employment Status: Full Time Year-round
Start Date: ASAP
Reports to: Senior Director of Operations

Job description:

The commercial construction project manager will plan, coordinate, and supervise the construction of lodge and building projects from start to finish in a mountain environment. This job involves tasks such as monitoring the construction process to ensure the project is completed to schedule, negotiating contracts, and providing support towards securing building permits and licenses. This role is well-suited to people who have an analytical mindset and great organizational skills. This role will work closely with leadership as well as Parks Canada Environmental Surveillance Offices (ESO) to ensure execution of projects are done in a timely manner, within budget, exercising safety precautions, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements, following safety protocol, while delivering quality. The ideal candidate will be tech savvy, have ample experience and knowledge working with Microsoft office, and construction project management software.

Job responsibilities:
• Oversee all stages of project life cycle
• Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
• Preparing and submitting construction project budget estimates
• Working closely with the architect in the preparation of the design of the buildings in order to ensure efficiencies and cost effective materials.
• Planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitoring progress against established schedules
• Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
• Ensuring compliance with Environmental requirements and coordination of construction activities with Parks Canada
• Developing and implementing quality control programs
• Representing your company on matters such as business services and employee contracts negotiation
• Preparing progress reports and issuing progress schedules to stakeholders
• Directing the purchase of building materials
Hiring and supervising the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff

Job requirements/qualifications:
• 5+ years construction project management experience
• 2+ years of experience as a commercial construction project manager
• Experience with remote mountain construction sites is considered an asset
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Industry knowledge and ability to read blueprints
• Detail-oriented and strong communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft office, and Microsoft project or equivalent
