Position Title: Maintenance Person

Department: Operations

Reports to: Operations Manager

Key Work

As a member of Mt Sima Operations team, the Maintenance Person is required to monitor & maintain Mt Sima’s lifts, grounds, building and plant facilities and provide a safe environment for our visiting guests and staff as part of the overall objectives of the organization.

Mt Sima’s objective is to provide a product and service that exceeds the expectations of our guests at all times during both the winter and summer months. Maintenance staff will be required at times to support and assist other departments in achieving the organizations overall objectives.

Key Duties 

Maintenance Person duties include (but not limited to):

Responsible for the day to day maintenance of ski lifts
Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the buildings
Assist and/or perform preventative maintenance and repair on all assigned lifts.
Performs ski lift tower work
Assists with preparing assigned lifts for annual licensing inspections
Implement maintenance activity schedules to cover all tasks to be completed on a regular basis, plan for responding to emergency situations
Practices regular preventative maintenance and upgrades as necessary on all technical services & components of the building including electrical systems, mechanical systems, energy management systems, fire alarm/safety systems, grounds, parking, renovation, etc
May perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs to on hill and off hill signage
Reports any equipment malfunction, emergency situations or suspicious persons to either the Ops Manager and/or General Manager.
Anticipates, identifies and corrects system breakdowns
Communicates with Ops Manager/General Manager and co-workers regarding product / service deficiencies, equipment, safety problems, etc.
Schedules or performs routine maintenance on building systems (including septic, fire system, alarm system, HVAC, water, plumbing etc)
Performs general minor repairs to in house plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, kitchen equipment and HVAC systems etc.
Completes all maintenance and safety reports (e.g. Fire extinguishers, Health & Safety, Equipment reports)
Is familiar with the location and of how to control the supply of water, electricity and gas in an emergency situation.
Refurbishes furniture, walls, floors, lockers, office furniture etc. if needed.
Able to trouble shoot, follow and maintain a preventative maintenance program.
Reports work completed daily to supervisor.
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements and follow Mt Sima’s safety and risk management policies and procedures
Supports Mt Sima full time and part time staff in any way possible to enhance guest services.


Experience in plant operations, including but not limited to NDT, electrical or mechanical positions
Valid driver’s license
Specific experience in Lift Maintenance is an asset
Proven competency in general mechanics
Knowledge of basic hand and power tools
Ability to perform duties while at heights comfortably
Ability to work outdoors in all winter/summer weather conditions and able to lift 60lbs unassisted
Schedule will include Weekends and Holidays
