Big White is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Hardgoods Manager. This is a full time year round position located at Big White.

Our Hardgoods Manager will be responsible for all purchases of skis, snowboard and biking equipment and other categories as required as well as the daily operations Dizzy’s Customer Bootfitting Shop. Our ideal applicant will have great passion for retail and understand our philosophy of creating a unique shopping experience based on excellent customer service in a fun and friendly environment. Our successful applicant will maintain a respectful, happy and harmonious workplace for our staff members who will be motivated and inspired by his/her leadership and strong work ethic.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Staff interviews and hiring
  • Staff training and development
  • Staff management and supervision
  • Inventory management including receiving and processing, stocktake and shrinkage control
  • Maintaining inventory levels
  • Inventory security
  • Resolving merchandise problems such as supply shortages, faulty goods, returns
  • Organizing special promotions, displays and events
  • Spending time on the shop floor to support and mentor staff as well as engaging in sales in order to stay in touch with our customers.
  • Responding to customer concerns and feedback
  • Achieving budget objectives and sales targets
  • Keeping up to date with trends and new products in the industry
  • Customer service
  • Sales
  • Assisting guests with selection and purchase of equipment that is appropriate for their needs and ability
  • Keeping the shops and storage areas clean and tidy
  • Cash handling
  • Use of Lightspeed POS

Required Qualifications:

  • Ski/ snowboard and biking industry experience
  • Minimum of five years relevant business experience
  • Minimum of three years management experience
  • Prior buying experience
  • Knowledge of bootfitting with custom orthotics is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Professional attitude
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Time management skills
  • Must be approachable, dependable and a strong team player
  • Must be able to deal with people of all ages with animation and with patience

Position Duration:
Full time and year round

Salary:
Salary will be determined according to prior experience and skill evaluation
