What the role is all about:

As a Lift Mechanic, you will be reporting to the Supervisor, Lift Maintenance. You will provide a high level of service while ensuring the safe installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of the ski lifts and associated equipment. You have a love of working outdoors in all weather conditions and you exude a positive and energetic personality while being proactive and multi-tasking.


You will also be responsible for daily inspections and documentation, resolving various lift stoppages, and enacting emergency procedures all to facilitate optimal lift operations. In addition to routine operational requirements, you will assist with monthly and annual lift maintenance tasks and perform seasonal changeover tasks to meet specific seasonal operating requirements. You will also play an active role in maintaining and creating new policies and processes to meet current standards and safety protocols. The team also maintains the RFID gate system and completes inspections and maintenance on the Ziplines and other attractions. You will be a source of guidance and leadership for lift operations staff to develop and help them succeed in their roles. At times the lift maintenance team will be called on to provide guidance and leadership to the lift operators as well as providing lift operating coverage.



  • Work with our apprentices, providing guidance, coaching, and general oversight for the Lift Operations team
  • Maintain Z98 compliance for both our lifts and amusement park features
  • Complete routine and daily Z98 documentation and inspection/maintenance documentation
  • Assist in the development of lift maintenance policies and procedures
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections/ maintenance of lifts, in addition to conducting emergency repairs and maintenance as required
  • Assist the Supervisor, Lift Maintenance in work planning – daily tasks through to annual goals for the team
  • Ensure safe operation of lifts, understanding the impact of the environment and weather has on operation and safety. Collaborate with our Operations crew on decisions regarding closures of lifts for weather events
  • Responsible for staying current on lift emergency protocols, including providing leadership and assistance with lift evacuations due to power outage or weather changes
  • Monitor the lifts while in operation to ensure there are no issues or incidences, in addition to providing lift fault response if required
  • Enacting lift bypass sequences while the lift is in operation
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and complete seasonal lift maintenance and change over
  • Assist with RFID gate maintenance including set up, removal, and general troubleshooting
  • Working with our team to ensure our amusement attractions (Zipline, activity centre, and free fall) are operational and up to standard
  • Demonstrate safe work practices to maintain a safe work environment, ensuring that safety procedures are adhered to both individually and within the team
  • Complete safety documentation toolbox talks/FLHA
  • Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one’s own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers, direct reports, and WinSport guests
  • Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals
  • Review all OH & S notices/meeting minutes as they are distrusted or posted on OH & S boards located within all departments
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Journeyperson Millwright/Electrician/Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Technical writing skill
  • Leadership skills working in teams of all sizes
  • Valid Driver License and a clear driver abstract (3 years)
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Rigging/ hoist skills and experience
  • Understanding of Lifts 151,152, 153 (Z98 code courses) is considered an asset
  • Ability to find and interpret maintenance procedures and problem solve
  • Strong time management skills and a proven ability to remain focused on routine tasks and inspections


Work Conditions:

  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work as required
  • Extended hours in all weather conditions, including adverse weather
  • An ability to lift 20 – 30 pounds
  • Some working at height and in confined spaces required
