Baldy Mountain Resort is still in search of individuals to join our Lift Operator team for the 2019-2020


Organizational Structure


Job Title: Lift Operator


Reports to: Patrol & Risk Manager



The Lift Operator is responsible to ensure the safe and efficient use of our lifts for our guests and employees in a courteous, professional manner. As well as perform various other outdoor duties.


Primary Responsibilities


Guest Safety

  • Ensure that guests are safely loaded onto our lifts
  • Be vigilant for identifying and preventing lift related incidents
  • Ensure daily that signage is in place, visible and straight
  • Know and enforce the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • Assist with the education of safe skiing

Guest Service

  • Ensure that all guests have a valid lift pass
  • Know lift opening and closing times
  • Ensure lift information board is completed daily
  • Ensure mazes are in the best possible condition
  • Ensure proper lift use by our guests and staff (back-packs, young kids, etc.)


Lift Operation

  • Know and follow safe operating procedures
  • Know and follow opening and closing procedures
  • Understand lift function
  • Maintain lift area’s free of  ice and excess snow
  • Ensure ramps are maintained throughout the day

Emergency Procedures

  • Know and follow emergency operating procedures as per training and lift manual
  • Assist with lift evacuation as required
  • Ensure that all safety equipment is in place and ready for immediate use
  • Be able to contact Patrol in the event of an injury
  • Carry out duties as required by Emergency Director



  • Fill out daily log sheets clearly and completely
  • Ensure data is accurate and complete
  • Document all stops over 2 minutes and unusual occurrences
  • Notify Lift Supervisor of all mis-loads/unloads outside of the load/unload point
  • Turn in completed log sheets daily to the Lift Supervisor
  • Direct all media inquires to the Area Manager


  • Know how to use tools properly
  • Ensure the security of tools
  • Maintain lift huts and surrounding areas
  • Maintain personal ski equipment to ensure safe use
  • Use lift phones appropriately
  • Clean and maintain uniform regularly
  • Be responsible for issued radio and report loss or problems immediately



  • Parking lot cones
  • Ski racks, benches and tables
  • Snow removal around lifts, buildings, decks and entrances
  • Garbage and recycling removal
  • Assist with Special Events
