Logistics Coordinator
Full-time, year-round
Hours Per Week: 30 - 40
Wage: $25.00/hour

Working under the direction of the Director Food & Beverage, the Logistics Coordinator works in all areas of the Sea to Sky Gondola with a strong emphasis on Food and Beverage. They receive products from vendors and ship them to the appropriate business areas. This role is responsible for the receiving, storage (including temperature checks), and rotation of food products (FIFO) in compliance with health department regulations. This role is the lead for maintaining our high standards of cleanliness and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Shipping/Receiving:

  • Organize delivery schedules, garbage and recycling pick up days and ensuring logistics in place to fulfill requirements
  • Place and reconcile orders for food products for all F&B outlets, cleaning supplies for the entire organization and other as needed through established vendors with accurate and efficient entry into inventory software (optimum control)
  • Coordinate the shipping, receiving and storage of products between summit and base (food products, cleaning supplies, other)
  • Communicate regularly with all F&B areas to ensure stock and product levels are maintained
  • Communicate regularly with other departments as needed based on shipping/receiving of orders
  • Receive orders from vendors, and efficiently and accurately store in appropriate areas
  • Monitor food storage temperatures, and ship to designated areas within the organization. Primarily between the base and summit
  • Ensure that food products are properly received, stocked, and rotated (FIFO)
  • Ensure invoices from suppliers’ match the deliveries and any discrepancies are communicated and followed up in an efficient and timely manner
  • Ensure that finance receives accurate invoices in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate logs and inventory for accurate record keeping
  • Organize and maintain waste management areas to high level of cleanliness, sanitization, and organization
  • Maintain temperature logs for all food products, including Base camp Café, Summit Lodge, refrigerated C-cans, freezer can and trucks
  • Ensure garbage, recycling, and compost bins are available for daily service and communicate with GFL to organize pick up schedules to maintain a clean and tidy shipping area.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and proper food and supply storage in accordance with Foodsafe and WorksafeBC requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Custodial:

  • Ensure the regular cleaning of all areas of the operation, including washrooms, floors, furniture, and offices
  • Ensure all exterior and interior garbage, recycling and compost bins are kept clean and empty to eliminate food debris/odour and minimise wildlife attractants
  • Ensure all waste is properly sorted. No plastics in organics, plastic and glass bottles separated, compostable products separated)
  • Ensure all departments have proper bins for waste, compost, and recycling
  • Complete regular walkabouts to check standards of cleanliness of different areas, deploy the necessary team members as needed

 

Sustainability:

  • Create strong relationships with department heads to develop measurable sustainability initiatives applicable to each department
  • Maintain communication with department heads to ensure they are following the Sea to Sky Gondola sustainability plan
  • Promote sustainability by following recycling and composting procedures

 

Team Management:

  • Oversee the logistics team to ensure efficient operation of shipping/receiving, loading and storage of products
  • Oversee the day janitorial team to ensure Gondola operations are clean and sanitized according to company policies and Covid requirements
  • Involved in the interviewing and hiring of team members
  • Provide ongoing supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring to the logistics and cleaning teams to ensure they have the skills required to successfully and competently thrive in their roles
  • Provide required training on WHMIS and MSDS in accordance with company policies and WorksafeBC requirements
  • Lead by example and provide regular feedback to team members on job performance
  • Scheduling appropriately for business needs and monitoring labour expenses to keep with in allocated budget
  • Performance management of team members

 

Required Skills and Experience:

 

  • Knowledge of hospitality, culinary and/or facility maintenance preferred
  • Previous experience using Optimum Control an asset
  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite (excel, word, outlook)
  • Previous experience in shipping/receiving, stock control, and managing inventory preferred
  • Interest in sustainability and taking the STSG sustainability plan and further developing and implementing it throughout the organization
  • Ability to handle pressure, prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain efficiency.
  • Proven leadership experience, resulting in an engaged team
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and train new team members
  • FoodSafe Certification is mandatory
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to manage supply in a diverse and sometimes challenging environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactive approach to problem solving and self – management skills
  • Excellent customer service with strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use and handle various kitchen machinery preferred
  • Must be physically able to meet the requirements of the position, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong time management, organizational and people managing skills
  • Safety oriented with the ability and commitment to following all WorksafeBC procedures
  • Confident, outgoing, and positive team player
