Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is a full-time, year-round senior management position.  The Maintenance Manager works with the management team to oversee all Maintenance and Operation functions of the company during both our summer season and our winter Cat skiing season.


  • 10+ years senior management in the ski industry or related
  • In depth understanding of the practice of Risk Management
  • Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Well defined organizational skills to provide timely and high-quality service to other departments and guests
  • Good communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • 80 hour Advanced First Aid ticket would be an asset
  • Avalanche One course from the CAA would be an asset
  • Outdoor enthusiast with a passion for getting out into the mountains an asset

    • Domestic water treatment plants
    • Diesel powered machines, tracked machines and hydraulics
    • Solar powered systems (panels, charge controllers, batteries)
    • Septic and wastewater systems
  • General understanding of Regulatory Requirements
    • Canadian drinking water guidelines, responsibilities.
    • Wildfire act and Forest Fire regulations for operations.
    • Forest practices codes.
    • Environmental best practices and guidelines
    • Government permitting through various regulatory agencies
    • Worksafe BC regulations for staff and contractors
  • I.T. management support including communications, phones, radios, wireless and internet connectivity.



  • Vehicles and Associated Equipment
  • Maintaining preventative programs for all equipment and vehicles, including snowcats, trucks, van, quads, snowmobiles, generators, pumps, motors, and compressors.
  • Snow cat team
  • Communicate with mechanic and snow cat supervisor on program’s needs offering support and guidance.
  • Access Roads
  • Maintain, repair and construct all access roads including run off management, snow-clearing, surfacing and signage insuring safe travel and access
  • Shop and Grounds
  • Responsible for the overall area organization, safety and cleanliness, purchase and inventory of equipment parts, chemicals and supplies.
  • Work on an appropriate long-term plan for the area and buildings
  • Ensure the operation complies with regulations and accepted environmental practices
  • Utilities
  • Be responsible for utilities such as power, potable water, sewer, propane, diesel and gas, garbage and recycling as necessary
  • Buildings
  • Responsible for all buildings and structures on the grounds including construction, repair, maintenance, general upkeep, updates and renovations as required.
  • Maintenance and minor repairs to heating, ventilation systems, refrigeration systems and equipment. As well as for the plumbing and heating fixtures, appliances, saunas and hot tubs.
  • Responsible for the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical distribution systems including electric motors, electric controls, fire alarms, and monitoring systems.
  • Responsible for the inspection, repair, or replacement of pumps, valves, and boiler systems.
  • Summer Trails and Glading program
  • Support, in collaboration with CEO, the development and maintenance of hiking trails including signage and guided hiking program as well assist with our Glading program
  • Budget
  • Oversee the financial performance of the Maintenance department. Develop and implement operational and capital budgets, ensuring appropriate processes of POs, invoices and pay activities.
  • Human Resources
  • Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the department in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and OH&S guidelines
  • Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members.
