Job Description:

The Lake Louise Ski Area is one of Canada’s largest mountain resorts with a maintenance department that encompasses all facets of building, utilities, vehicle, passenger ropeway and electrical maintenance.

We are looking for a Maintenance Manager to oversee all preventative and unscheduled maintenance and upgrades of the company’s facilities. You will be the one to ensure that your colleagues have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to budget.

A great maintenance manager will have a solid understanding of passenger ropeway mechanical/electrical systems, vehicle maintenance including both road and off road vehicles including on-snow machinery, snowmaking systems, building plumbing and electrical systems as well as carpentry and other crafts. They will be well-versed in all maintenance process, environmental best practices and health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will also have aptitude in undertaking administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting and resource scheduling.

This role is well-suited to people who have an analytical mindset and great organizational skills. This role will work closely with leadership as well as LLSA Environmental Department to ensure execution of maintenance activities are done in a timely manner, within budget, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements, following safety protocol, while delivering quality. The ideal candidate will be tech savvy, have ample experience and knowledge working with Microsoft office, and computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).

The goal is to ensure the company facilities are well-cared for and adequate to support the company’s business operations as well as meet the requirements of all the representative authorities.

Job responsibilities: 

  • Develop/revise maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
  • Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
  • Provide a quality assurance program to all maintenance activities
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
  • Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff (custodians, janitors etc.)
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
  • Ensure health and safety policies are complied with
  • Developing maintenance procedures and ensuring implementation
  • Carrying out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
  • Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating maintenance activities from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
  • Preparing and submitting maintenance budget estimates
  • Planning and preparing maintenance schedules and milestones, and monitoring progress against established schedules
  • Ensuring compliance with Environmental requirements and coordination of maintenance activities with Parks Canada
  • Directing the purchase of materials supplies
  • Hiring and supervising the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff
  • Coordinate supervisor and staff training programs

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5+ years maintenance management experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a journeyman from either of; electrical, millwright, automotive mechanic or heavy duty mechanic
  • Experience with remote mountain sites is considered an asset
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Detail-oriented and strong communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office, and Microsoft project or equivalent
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  • Ability to keep track of and report on activity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
