GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To welcome, check-in, check-out, and assist guests
  • Handle incoming/outgoing calls on switchboard
  • Maintain guest accounts
  • Provide general information as required
  • Maintain security of building
  • Maintain communications with other night shift workers
  • Maintain cleanliness of front office, back office, and kitchen area
  • Updating ski reports in winter

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications:

  • Communicate with a smile whether on the phone or in person
  • Full working knowledge of switchboard and base radio
  • Relay messages for guests and for staff
  • Maintain good communications with all departments
  • Maintain a friendly, courteous manner to guests and staff at all times
  • Be familiar with all fire, safety and emergency procedures
  • Phone and fax the ski report to the snow phone and radio stations daily (winter)
  • Maintain hourly radio communication with other night shift workers and record in logbook
  • Provide correct information on the resort facilities, alpine and Nordic skiing, campgrounds and surrounding areas
  • Provide correct information on room rates, cancellation policy and packages
  • Record maintenance problems in maintenance book
  • Check message slot and read message book daily when coming on shift. Record in message book any incidents or problems that have come up that others should be aware of.
  • Full working knowledge of computer in regards to email, receiving and responding to inquiries in a quick and efficient manner
  • Maintaining info sheet for guests

Part Time Night Patrol ( 2 nights)

  • To ensure the security of the Permit area.

Specific Responsibilities: (but not limited to)

  • To ensure that the Permit Area of the Park is maintained to a high standard of service with equipment necessary to do the job effectively.
  • To be familiar with Manning Park, its facilities, recreational opportunities, and display good public relation skills when assisting Resort guests and Park users.
  • To be familiar with the Park Regulations and are able to communicate regulations to guests in a courteous manner when necessary to do so.
  • To be familiar with emergency procedures.
  • To maintain a high standard of Public Safety:
    • By advising Guests who are acting in an unsafe manner to cease that activity.
    • To act on situations before they have unfortunate results.
  • To maintain Public control and noise control and ensure any incidents which occur in the Permit area are duly recorded.
  • To deal with emergency situations.
  • Ensure safety of Park by reporting any potential hazards.
  • Ensure emergency vehicle access to and in the Permit Area is maintained at all times.
  • To maintain a safe/secure level in staff housing:
    • By advising staff who are acting in an unsafe manner to cease that activity.
    • To act on situations before they have unfortunate results.
  • Deal effectively with enforcement situations in a mature and responsible manner.

Past security or night watch experience an asset

Valid, clean driver’s license
