Ski Patrol Job Responsibilities
Ski patrol will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing safety of guests and staff, by checking trails and surrounding areas for hazards.
Ski patrol will also be responsible for the following:
-proving first aid or other assistance to anyone in need
-ensuring all markings are clearly visible and easy to understand
-checking and monitoring trails for hazards and snow conditions
-ensuring that all incidents are handled respectfully and responsibly
-take an active part in skier education and public relations
- maintain a reasonable understanding of ski area risks and responsibilities
- be familiar with the locations of trails and their designation
-helping customers enjoy all aspects of their skiing experience
- organize all searches for lost or missing guests
- do start of day and end of day mtn sweeps to ensure safety
Muster Point: Main Parking Lot
In the event of a fire:
If you feel comfortable to do so, attempt to extinguish the fire by using a fire extinguisher or other fire suppression equipment (Kitchen)
If fire suppression is unsuccessful:
Notify supervisor via radio on Channel 1. Evacuate everyone from area. Contact 911
Muster all evacuees in main parking lot. DO NOT LEAVE MUSTER AREA.
Documentation: Document if possible, Start Time, where fire started, what caused it, if known, and any precipitating events that are pertinent.
In the event of a staff member getting injured or sick
The employee must notify their Supervisor immediately for any injury or occupational illness
Supervisors must contact Ski Patrol manager or designate regarding all injury or illness of employees
Ski Patrol Manager Responsibility
Ski Patrol Manager will assess and treat all Occupational injuries and illness, and transport to first aid as required.
All injuries/illness queries need to be documented on a Patient Care Form.
Ski Patrol Manager to fill out Form 7-Employers Report of Injury or Occupational Illness
Form 7A- First Aid Report- To be filled out by First Aid Attendant
Patrol Manager will fill out an Incident Investigation Report Form #52E40, If Required
Patrol Manager will notify WorkSafeBC BC if a claim needs to be initiated
