JOB DESCRIPTION: Rental Shop/Snow School Assistant

Reports To: Rental Shop/Snow School Supervisor

The Rental Shop/Snow School Assistant is responsible for all the transactions in the Rental Shop. They are directly responsible for their till and anything that happens regarding it. This means they have in-depth knowledge of HBMR, and the products we offer, specifically products regarding the rental shop and snow school. They are also responsible for keeping the online lesson planner up to date, knowing details of each type of lessons and what fits our guests’ needs, and booking those lessons, camps and special offerings for guests. They are also responsible for working in the Rental Shop, assembling equipment for walk-in guests, co-ordinating pre set gear for groups and work in the repair shop.

Key Responsibilities:

Cashier

  • Ensure tickets ,till and radio are ready at start of day before guests arrive
  • Carry out all transactions in a friendly and professional manner
  • Perform accurate end of day Cash Outs with Base 1
  • Ensure proper float amount is present at beginning and end of day, and cash report is balanced and correct
  • Provide documentation of all discounts and coupons

Rental Shop

  • Ensures rental forms are completely and properly filled out before proceeding with equipment
  • Assist guests with proper boot fitting and adjustment when able
  • Ensures accurate ski/board selection, binding adjustment, pole measurements and helmet sizing
  • Notifies Rental Shop Supervisor of equipment requiring repair or replacement
  • Helps with upkeep of rental shop
  • Ensure a proper rotation of waxing and tuning of rental gear is completed

Snow School

  • Wear proper assigned uniform and nametag
  • Inform guests of lesson details and book lessons accurately for guests
  • Maintains a good relationship with guests, while being courteous and professional
  • Instructs guests in the correct use of rental equipment
  • Maintains the Snow School/Rental Shop Team room in a tidy and organized manner – washes dishes after they are used
  • Carries out related duties as assigned
  • Fosters an atmosphere of safety and co-operation, and promotes positive teamwork in the Rental Shop as well as in all other HBMR locations
  • Stands in for the Rental Shop Supervisor when they are taking days off
  • Co-ordinate pre-sets and lessons with the Inside Operations Manger and Rental Shop Supervisor on scheduled group visits
  • Generate accurate invoices and account billing for group visits
  • Ensure the proper filing system of group information is used
  • Check voicemail messages constantly (minimum every 15 minutes during the workday), except during lunch. Must be checked before starting a break and immediately upon return from break

  • Take school and group bookings during the season

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and distribution of the Team Newsletter
  • Chair and manage the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
  • Follows all health and safety procedures according to COVID regulations and the Team Manual
  • Prepares staff schedules to meet projected business and wage cost guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma
  • Experience: At least one year Rental Shop experience is required
  • Experience: At least one year cash handling experience required
  • Good organization and attention to details
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to handle moderate physical lifting and movement
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with employees as well as the general public
  • Strong administrative and time management skills
  • Knowledge of the Alpine Responsibility Code
