Availability:                                                           October through April can become Full Time Year Round


Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc. is looking to fill the full-time seasonal position of snowmaker, at Fernie Alpine Resort. Reporting to the Snowmaking Supervisor, the ideal candidate will have both snowmobile and record keeping experience, will be self confident, physically capable and have a desire to work outside in a mountain environment.  Some of the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:



  • To ensure a safe, comfortable and friendly atmosphere for both guests and staff
  • Offer a high degree of guest service
  • Supervise and coach the snowmaking team to meet department goals
  • Conduct crew talks and provide safety guidance and leadership
  • Complete reports as necessary upon request from the maintenance manager
  • Maintain & monitor entire snowmaking system (pumps, hoses & snow guns)
  • Shovel and clear ice
  • Roll and pack hoses
  • General labour as needed
  • Follow up on daily checks from team on general snowmaking details
  • Know and adhere to the policies, rules and protocols outlined in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook
  • Know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
  • To perform other tasks and duties that are applicable


  • Physically capable
  • Ability and desire to work outdoors (day or night) in winter
  • Reliable, self-confident and a quick learner
  • Experience driving a snowmobile preferred
  • Capable of working various, round the clock shifts
  • Prior experience preferred

This is a full-time winter seasonal position with the possibility to become full-time year-round. The role is set to commence in October, but could begin earlier.  Shifts vary depending on weather.
