Director Human Resources (HR)

The Director HR reports to the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President and works closely with the management team to direct the HR team in its delivery of HR related services to a busy and complex seasonal organization. This permanent full-time position holds a key role in leading the development of Sunshine’s people strategy and staff by exhibiting Sunshine’s values to display care in everything they do, operating with honesty and integrity, working responsibly, professionally and exhibiting mutual respect with others.

You will be responsible for the following aspects of human resources at Banff Sunshine Village;

Employment

o Work closely with the Human Resources Manager, and the recruitment team to ensure the talent strategy and tools are in place to ensure an effective and successful talent attraction and retention process for Sunshine
o Develop annual workforce plans and hiring budgets to ensure effective media and advertising spending

Employee Relations

o Review and develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective workforce
o Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures and programs
o Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish positive employee experience and promote a high level of employee engagement and morale
o Conduct or oversee investigations due to employee complaints or concerns
o Advise managers and supervisors in progressive discipline or performance improvement processes when required
o Provide guidance and support to managers for employment terminations in conjunction with legal counsel

Training & Development

o Review, develop and implement ongoing training and development initiatives

HRIS
o Ensure regular review and updates to Dayforce HRIS
• Compensation
o Review and implement overall compensation structures and ensure effective annual reviews of external and internal compensation benchmarks

Benefits
o Review benefit programs and usage annually in conjunction with the CFO and Payroll team

Legislation
o Ensure regular review and updates to policy or procedures based on Alberta employment standards and Occupational Health and Safety

Organizational Development

o Work closely with departments to plan and implement resourcing and development for permanent staff, ensure effective planning for required resources for seasonal or temporary staffing

Diversity & Inclusion

o Define and implement programs to support a diverse and inclusive workforce at Sunshine.

Experience/Requirements Required
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations, business, administration, or a related field or a combination of related education and experience,
• CPHR or CHRL designation is preferred,
• Previous HR experience in a leadership coaching role,
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a successful participant on the executive management team,
• People oriented and solutions-focused,
• Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills,
• Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships across the organization,
• Knowledge of HR best practices and relevant legislation,
• Fluent communication in person, on the phone, and in email,
• Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel),
• Must be well-organized, multi-tasker and able to manage time efficiently and effectively,
• Exhibits the highest level of confidentiality, respect and leadership,
• Knowledge of HR systems and databases; Ceridian DayForce HCM knowledge is an asset.
