What can you expect?

The Utilities Helper ensures uninterrupted utility services at the Resort, primarily via transportation of fuel, domestic water, and wastewater at various hours and times during and outside of regular Resort operations. This role supports the monitoring of facilities, equipment, and fuel supply and distribution, always ensuring a positive Resort user experience. The Utilities Helper reports directly to the Utilities Supervisor and works closely with all resort departments.

Monitoring of all utilities, ensuring high quality, prompt, and efficient services to Sunshine Village.

Hauling responsibilities: ensuring key areas of the Resort have both correct water volumes and available capacity for wastewater. Hauling fuel to required Resort facilities.

This role may be involved in maintaining both the water treatment and wastewater treatment systems, including:

  • Conducting and monitoring water treatment processes to ensure a quality water supply to the public.
  • Operating the Wastewater treatment plant, ensuring it is in compliance with Parks Canada, Environmental Protection Services regulations, and all other applicable environmental legislation.
  • Ensuring reservoirs have adequate water supply to the Resort.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the water distribution system and the wastewater collection system.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining efficient standard operating procedures.
  • Timely, accurate completion of documentation and reporting to appropriate departments or personnel e.g., training, maintenance records, required submissions, incidents, deficiencies.

Other duties, including providing after-hours transportation, may be requested, and assigned from time to time.

And you have:     

  • High school grad or equivalent and mechanically inclined.
  • Post-secondary science and math/computing skill set is an asset
  • Be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid AB driver’s license (Class 5 minimum).
  • Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., holidays, nights, extended hours, outdoors, in all conditions.
  • Strong self-starter, reliable, calm under pressure, with a high degree of versatility and personal initiative.
  • Experience in wastewater treatment/propane/fuel/water systems preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally
  • Possess basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Maintain professional conduct e.g., on or off-duty, online.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training inside and outside of department.
  • Must be neat, punctual, dependable, outgoing, positive, mature, and friendly attitude.
