Job Summary

As an integral part of our Sasquatch Mountain Resort Leadership Team, the primary function is to coordinate, direct, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Patrol team ensuring success through safe operating procedures, a positive guest experience and a focus on staff retention and development. As a leader you are responsible for overseeing the safety of all mountain guests; providing first aid, slope risk management, lift evacuations and dispatch. As Patrol Director the top priority is the safe and efficient operation of the resort, reporting to the GM when needed. You are a front-line staff member, problem solving and providing excellent customer service to create a Fantastic Family Fun experience.

Job Specifications

Wage:  / hour based on certificates and experience
Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time – Working between 8-10 hours/day. Weekends and Holidays
Skill Level – Experience and Certificates Required
Job Responsibilities

Oversee and lead the Patrol teams, Avalanche forecasting and the day-to-day operations.
Identify and notify appropriate persons of any problems found with Patrol.
Staff and Schedule all Patrol, Dispatch, and all areas for all daily operations.
Adhere to Operational Manual, for the safe and consistent, daily setup, operation, and tear down
Operate company equipment safely and as per company policies and procedures.
Maintain records of operations as per related codes, legislation, and company policy.
Ensure radio protocols are followed as per company policy.
Assist with the transport of guests and equipment, where required.
Assist in emergency situations.
Lead the training of all patrol, forecaster and dispatch personnel pre-season, and mid-season as required.
Provide first aid for guests and staff
Lift Evacuation
Assist where possible in avalanche control
Assist in search and rescue
Educating staff and our guests to the components of alpine responsibility code: where necessary
Snowmobile operation and safety
Weather observation and reporting where necessary
Mountain Dispatch
Public Relations
Proactively notify maintenance/dispatch of repair or maintenance needs
Implement emergency procedures as required
Perform snow work, which includes but not limited to shoveling, raking, sweeping
Maintain a professional and respectable appearance.
Practice safe work procedures.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Job Requirements

Experience and Certificates required

Occupational First Aid (OFA) level 3 and /or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and/or Advanced Wilderness First Aid

CAA Avalanche Operations Level 1 an asset
High intermediate to advanced alpine skier/boarder in all snow terrain and conditions
Previous toboggan handling skills an asset
High level of fitness and able to work in all weather conditions
Previous Ski Hill experience an asset
Must be able to make quick decisions/use considerable judgement regarding safety as well as multitask and anticipate issues
Must be physically capable of assisting guests, shoveling snow etc
Must be able stand outside in a mountain environment for long periods of time
Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed
Must be able to handle high guest volumes in a professional manner
Must be willing to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of assigned area, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends
Strong customer service and clear communication skills
Must be adaptable, have problem solving skills, and be a team player across all departments
Family Oriented Resort so working with large groups, families of all ages is required
Stress Management, Patient, and have great Time Management Skills
Cross Department Support and Snow Removal is required from all positions at SMR
