Overview

From the dispatch office, you will be overseeing the daily mountain operations of the ski resort. Working within the patrol department, you will be responsible for logging and communications with Lift Operations, Grooming/Slopes, Events and Patrol including daily set up and routine operations. Your focus will be on the safety of guests and staff alike. A key part of this role is receiving calls from injured guests and dispatching appropriate patrol assets to manage emergency’s and incidents within resort premises, whilst keeping the resort operational. You will also be responsible for communications with outside agencies such as BC Ambulance Service, RCMP, Sun Peaks Fire Rescue, Sun Peaks Heath Centre and Kamloops Search and Rescue.

Your Responsibilities will include:

Taking all incoming phone calls, emails and radio communications to ski patrol
Providing radio dispatch to ski patrol and outside operations
Working with patrol director/supervisor to organize daily patrol operations
Checking and filing completed first aid and patrol documentation
Daily data entry and reporting
Work and communicate effectively with other agencies such as BC Ambulance Service, Royal Canadian Mounted Policy, Kamloops Search and Rescue, Sun Peaks Fire and Rescue, Emergency Medical Response Team, Canadian Ski Patrol

Minimum Requirements:

Strong communication and administrative skills
Strong typing and computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office
Able to multi-task and work under pressure
Knowledge of Sun Peaks Resort ski area
Previous first aid training (minimum 20 hours)

Preferred Qualifications

Previous dispatcher experience
Previous first aid / pre-hospital care experience
Previous ski patrol / mountain operations experience
=80 Hour first aid certification such as:

Occupational First Aid Level 3
Outdoor/Non-Urban Emergency Care
Emergency Medical Responder – Licensed (or higher)
Ski Hill Risk Management certification an asset
Thorough knowledge of Sun Peaks Resort terrain and village
Proven leadership skills
Experience / knowledge of ski area risk management
Experience / knowledge of occupational first aid
Available to work full time from mid to late October 2018 to late April 2019
Additional language skills an asset
