Role Overview:

Lift Operators are key guest facing members of our summer operations team at Sun Peaks Resort. In collaboration with the Lift Operations and Lift Maintenance teams, this role has a shared responsibility for ensuring the safe operations of the lifts including safety checks, safe loading and unloading practices for guests, and continued upkeep of a clean work area free from obstructions.

This role will be stationed at either a Chairlift, Conveyer lift or RFID ticket checking terminal. The incumbent will receive full training and will work alongside skilled and knowledgeable individuals.

Your Responsibilities will include:

Responsible for the daily operation of the mountain access chair lifts as assigned by the Lift Operations Manager/Assistant Manager/Supervisor.
Loading and unloading of foot passengers and mountain bikers, as well as mountain bikes on and off of the lift’s bike racks.
Provide physical assistance to guests as required and adjust the speed of the lifts for the guests to load and unload in a safe manner.
Communicate safety procedures and guidelines for riding the lifts to the guests as necessary; Safety awareness at all times is a must.
Maintain the appearance of the stations and surroundings throughout the day, ensuring load and unload areas up to operational standards as per the Z-98 code.
Communicate hazards/problems to Supervisors while demonstrating initiative in anticipating and handling routine and emergency procedures safely.
Unload and close the chair lift during storms and hazardous weather conditions, as directed by the Supervisor, Manger or Director.
Assist Lift Maintenance staff with routine operational checks and start-up.
Assist Patrol in lift evacuations in emergency situations, ensuring the highest safety standards to guests.
Assist in operation of the Vehicle Parking areas, RV park and RFID ticket validation.
