Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Operate all machines and equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant company policies and procedures
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, set up machines at the beginning of each shift to ensure proper working order
  • Maintenance and clean machines and equipment as scheduled and/or as required
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Advise Vehicle Maintenance team of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
  • Maintain inventory and ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times
  • Create and maintain activity logs as required
  • Practice workplace safety

Ideal Candidates:

  • Minimum 3 seasons experience operating Snowcats, Aebi and Aebi implements, backhoes, excavators and other heavy equipment
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Sun Peaks Resort environment and summer operations
  • Willing and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • A team player, self-motivated, with proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate others
  • Must be in good physical shape, able to undertake constant hard physical work, and able to safely lift heavy objects
  • Able to think, react and communicate under pressure
  • A good listener, able to follow instruction closely
  • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must have a keen eye for close detail while still dealing with a larger scope
  • Able to complete daily reports neatly, concisely, and legibly
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean abstract (we will require a consent form signed so abstract can be checked)
  • Previous Wild Fire Suppression experience with valid S-100 certificate and OFA-1 as minimum
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends and holidays) as required by summer operating hours, special events and Fire Danger Rating
  • Supply own CSA approved above ankle footwear, sunscreen and appropriate clothing
