Whitewater Ski Resort is located just outside of beautiful Nelson, B.C. and is named one of the top powder mountains in the world, with an average snowfall of 12 metres/40 feet per season! Under the direction and supervision of the Lifts Manager, the lift maintenance mechanic is responsible for assisting with the daily, weekly, and annual maintenance of all chairlifts and handle tow. Performing functions with the utmost safety is crucial in this position and being a leader in safety is vital. Day to day operations include 3 chairlifts with a 4th being built opening date of 2023/2024 winter season, 1 handle tow, 4 snowmobiles and 2 ATVs at the resort.
You will help supervise lift-operating staff and assist with snow cat maintenance. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all Whitewater guests and staff have a safe and enjoyable experience.
The lift maintenance mechanic’s primary role is to install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot lift equipment as well as assist lift operations with the start up and shut down of the lifts daily. They also read diagrams and manufacturers’ manuals, fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips and perform other mechanical procedures requiring specialized training. They work at great heights, in all weather conditions, at any time of the day or night.
