JOB SYNOPSIS:
Under the direction and supervision of the General Manager Mountain Operations, the Lifts Maintenance Manager provides focus on efficient and safe operations of lifts and equipment. They provide oversight and direction on the day to day operations of 3 chairlifts with a 4th being built opening date of 2023/2024 winter season, 1 handle tow, 4 snowmobiles and 2 ATVs at the resort.
Key areas of responsibility include maintaining and implementing all government and industry regulations for safe lift operations, development and supervision of staff, and assisting in the success of organizational goals. In addition, the Lifts Manager is considered a safety leader within the workplace culture as they frequently liaise with other Mountain Operations departments, guests, vendors, and manufacturers.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote Whitewater’s safety culture by reviewing and amending where necessary but not limited to: Department Manuals, CDPP, Employee Handbook.
Embrace and promote Whitewater’s mission statement and values
Implement daily, weekly and annual lift maintenance.
Manage and supervise the daily operations of the lifts, snowmobiles and ATVs to ensure safe, clean and consistent maintenance and operations for our guests.
Maintain current knowledge of legal standards pertaining to waivers, equipment, safety regulations, and OHS practices.
Manage department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve organizational goals.
Prepare and monitor the budget of the area’s P&L. Monitor financial performance to ensure the area is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment.
Interact professionally with lift operations staff.
Develop, review and deliver training to all lift operators, lift mechanics and persons utilizing snowmobile/ATV equipment annually or as needed
Supervise and mentor all apprentices and ensure they are receiving adequate training to achieve success in the pursuit of their trade
Ensure compliance with all Whitewater policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, the current CSA Z98 code and legislation and the BC Safety Act, as they relate to the current lifts and lift maintenance practices.
Documentation and record keeping for asset maintenance and human resources.
Monitoring and maintaining parts inventory.
Ensure work area(s) are kept safe and clean, report any damage, malfunction, or misuse of any company equipment and/or property.
Ensure radio protocols are followed as per company policy.
Assist patrol in any rope evacuation procedures.
Assist in any emergencies.
Using a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development
Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:
Journey-level Millwright, Electrician or Heavy Duty Mechanic
High School education or equivalent
80 hr Industrial First Aid certificate
Minimum 5 years ski industry experience
5 years supervisory experience
Field Safety Representative certification as per the B.C. Safety Authority
Complete familiarity with the current WCB regulation, CSA Z98 code and the BC Safety Act and Elevating devices regulations
Strong understanding of best maintenance practices for ski lifts. (Lift 151 surface lifts, Lift 152 fixed grip lifts )
Valid Class 5 drivers license with air brakes endorsement & clear driver’s abstract
A class 4 license would be considered a asset
Experience operating heavy duty equipment
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to read diagrams and manufacturer’s manuals
Ability to identify issues and decide on required actions
Competence to plan maintenance schedules
Strong administrative and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and delegation skills
