Canada West recognizes the passing of an individual that has had an impact on skiing across Canada and around the globe. Canada West extends its thoughts and prayers to the family and many friends of Mr. Artur Doppelmayr.
Artur Doppelmayr was a pioneer and trailblazer in the ropeway business. He took over the Doppelmayr Group following his father’s death in 1967. He transformed the company from a workshop operation into an industrial enterprise and, in his role as CEO, always fostered extremely sociable relationships with his employees.
We mourn the passing of Artur, whose life’s work made a huge impact on the ski industry. The funeral took place on May 16, 2017 in Maria Wörth in Carinthia. The service of remembrance in Vorarlberg will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 6 pm at the parish church of St. Martin in Dornbirn.
