Places & Faces: Fairmont Hot Springs

Fairmont ski area’s General Manager Peter Harding, and Snowsports Director Chris Veen were feeling great for a couple reasons when CWSAA visited last week. They were just about to receive a new low hours Bison X groomer, and Mother Nature had just delivered a dump of fresh pow…and they had ski boots on.

Fairmont has some exceptional teaching terrain. A conveyor and platter lift service enviable beginner terrain at the base immediately in front of the cozy lodge. Over the past couple years, Pete explains they have enlarged their consumer base through pass product offers and generated new revenue streams through ski school and food and beverage. Beyond the burgers and fries, the food menu includes a thoughtful selection of soups, salads, and many other healthy choices.

Ski patroller Nick showed me the patrol base in the lower level of the lodge which conveniently allows ski-to, and drive-from access. As the ski area is owned as part of the overall Fairmont Hot Springs Resort experience, ‘Ski and Swim’ is an exceptional offering that appeals to families.
