2022 CWSAA Award Recipients

On Wednesday April 27, 2022, eight individuals were recognized for their contributions to the ski industry during the 2022 CWSAA Spring Meeting in Lake Louise.

Congratulations to the 2022 recipients of the CWSAA Awards.

Lawrence Blouin

 

2022 Jimmie Spencer Lifetime Achievement Award

Lawrence Blouin is the General Manager of Table Mountain in Saskatchewan and has been a leader and significant contributor to the ski industry for over 40 years. Lawrence has been a mentor to many, and has always been wiling to volunteer his time and knowledge to help elevate ski areas.
He is the longest serving director on the CWSAA Board of Directors and has been the chair of the Saskatchewan Ski Areas Operators Association since its inception. Lawrence is also a former recipient of the Jim Marshall Leadership Award in 2008.


Debbie Muirhead

2022 Jim Marshall Leadership Award

Debbie Muirhead started Inter-Mtn. Testing Ltd. and Inter-Mtn. Enterprises Inc.in 1987 and has grown two small companies to International supporters of the ski industry. She started her career in the ski industry at Grouse Mountain in the early 70s and spent many years in ski area marketing before she started Inter-Mtn. Testing Ltd alongside her husband Don Muirhead. Debbie has served twice as the CWSAA Board of Director’s Associate Member Director and has been a mentor and leader to many in the industry.


Rod Chisholm

2022 Rod Chisholm Operations & Maintenance Award

Rod Chisholm spent his entire career of 36 years with Sunshine Village and passed away on July 30, 2021 at the age of 56. His calm and quiet demeanor, intelligence, problem solving skills and devotion to our industry were second to none.
In memory of Rod, each year the CWSAA Board of Director’s will select one recipient who has provided immense contribution and knowledge in the operations and lift maintenance field. The recipient would be widely regarded as having high expertise in relation to ski area operations and lifts. They may have ‘worked through the ranks’ and perhaps a quiet leader like Rod preferring to remain outside of the spotlight. They are likely an indispensable part of the senior management team within a ski area, or may have made significant contributions in related fields supporting the outdoor operations of a ski area.
Rod Chisholm was named as the inaugural recipient of this award.


Rebeckah Hornung

2022 Lars Fossberg Excellence Award

Rebackah Hornung is the Indoor Operations Manager at Whitewater Ski Resort. Rebeckah has spent 18 years in the ski industry, the last 12 in the Kootenays with Whitewater. Rebeckah has not only demonstrated leadership within Whitewater ski resort, but she is very involved in the community and ski industry – teaching at Selkirk College, presenting at CWSAA Conferences, participating in industry working groups and much more.


CWSAA 2022 Peak Performance Award

The CWSAA Peak Performance Award acknowledges innovation and creativity and is given to individuals whose concept/idea/contribution has provided value to their employer, that furthermore benefits the industry.
The Award intends to celebrate a broad range of talent within the increasing sophistication of the ski industry inclusive of the variety of departments within our ski areas.
2022 marks the inaugural year for the Peak Performance award, and will continue as part of the annual awards nomination process. This year four individuals were awarded the CWSAA Peak Performance Award.

  • Helen Davies, Director of HR & Employee Experience, Sun Peaks Resort
  • Chris Theed, Maintenance Manager, Sea to Sky Gondola Squamish BC
