Employee Safety Resources: New Tools Now Available

There are numerous tools and resources available for Ski Areas to support your OH&S initiatives.  Recently these resources were gathered into one webpage to make them easy to find and use: www.go2HR.ca/skisafety.

The following are NEW Tools & Resources specifically created for Ski Areas:

 

Safety Talk Discussion Leader Package 
All departments are encouraged to hold regular Safety Talk meetings.
This package provides a meeting record that should be completed for each discussion.
Plus, a guide is included to help the discussion leader facilitate a meaningful conversation with his/her employees.
Safety Talk: Snow Sports Injury Reduction 
This is a 2-part Safety Talk.
Part 1 provides important reminders and tips that should be reviewed with all employees who may have to put on skis or a snowboard for work at some point in the season.
Part 2 provides specific information to Snow School Instructors and Patrol, who ski as the primary part of their job.
Poster: Before you hit the slopes 
Print this poster and place in staff areas, such as upper lift huts, staff lunch rooms, ski storage rooms, patrol huts etc.
This is an important reinforcement tool to use in conjunction with the Snow Sports Injury Reduction Safety Talk.
Video: Snow sports Injury Reduction

A 2.5 minute video to share with staff and use in safety meetings.  The video features snow sports instructors, patrol and lift ops and how to reduce injuries while skiing and snowboarding.

Safety Talk: Knee Injury Reduction
Knee injuries are the most common skiing injury.  This talk is a companion to the Snow Sports Injury Reduction Safety Talk.
Use this tool to review specific risks and tips related to knee injuries.
Best Practices: Reducing Staff Snow Sports Injuries  
This document includes best practices that can be used in developing your ski areas staff handbook or policy.  This document is intended to be a guide, and does not dictate industry requirements.  Each ski area can modify and use according to their needs.Login to the CWSAA Member’s Only Section to view the Best Practices.

3 sample Meeting Plans have been developed to help Ski Areas hold Safety Meetings with their staff on reducing skiing and snowboarding Injuries.
