New Resorts

Fundamentally, CWSAA supports free and open markets. Accordingly, we recognize the right of any individual or group to open a new ski resort in Western Canada, after obtaining the necessary regulatory and legal approvals.

CWSAA believes that sound government New Resort Policies should consider a broad range of socioeconomic factors, including:

• Net benefit to the province and its residents.
• Net benefit to the tourism and ski industries.
• Economic viability.
• Environmental impact.
• First Nations consultations.

CWSAA also advocates that governments should process New Resort Applications in a timely, efficient and decisive manner.

This position statement was approved by the CWSAA Board at the January 20, 2014 CWSAA Board Meeting.
