Attn: CWSAA Members
The last eleven months of intense industry preparation and exhaustive operations management has allowed our 92 ski areas to successfully serve families and communities throughout the west. The ski sector continues to be viewed as a leader in its attention to risk and safety management, and as cited repeatedly by multiple Premiers and health officials, the COVID safety protocols have prevented transmission in ski operations.
Over recent months, the pandemic has touched many communities, including ski towns. Ski areas have the reach and opportunity to support and collaborate with our partners in surrounding communities to help stop transmission. In BC, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Province have asked ski areas and partners to help mobilise collective effort to reduce COVID transmission. Over the past days, a CWSAA working group joined with Tourism Minister Melanie Mark, Health Minister Dix, Minister Osborne, Dr. Bonnie Henry, regional health officials, and six ski communities with municipal governments on actions around education, policy, and enforcement. BC ski areas have immediately responded and campaign assets are already in market.
